    Description

VERY RARE Minted with no date:
    Salvation Army: anniversary medal
In a variety of ways in 1965, the hundredth anniversary of The Salvation Army was honoured.
This Salvation Army medal was produced with the portraits of a male and female salvationist on the main side.
The medal is 68mm across and as such relatively large. It has a weight of 150 grams.
On the back, under the design of the globe is the inscription
    :
"THE SALVATION ARMY SERVES GOD THROUGHOUT THE WORLD BY HELPING PEOPLE"
    and
"HITHERTO HATH THE LORD HELPED US"
    1 Samuel 7:12
The same design of the two salvationists was used on other objects, for example on an American First Day Cover.                      This medal / coin is very unique due to no anniversary date was ever minted on it.  I've seen these medals before, but never like this.  This may have been one of the first medals produced, and then later changed to show dates.                                                 I've taken lots of pictures to show condition.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  Be sure to check out my other listings for more great finds and shipping combined.  Thanks for stopping and good luck shopping.  Mike
