Condition: Northstar Horizon Computer. Northstar Horizon computer. This came from the estate of a man whom had a decent collection of earlier computers. Case top side cover outer are in nice shape as is the faceplate and rear panel. The top side cover shows one deep scratch spot on a corner, otherwise its clean save for some light scuffs and dust/soiling. It is fairly heavy due to its massive transformer and capacitor array on the inside in the power supply area. 2 5.25 floppy drives the outboard one is not working. Upon plugging in and powering up the first time I heard a very brief sparking noise and I noticed the drive indicator lamp was not on. There was a burnt chemical odor briefly but no smoke. Likely a cap or resistor in the drive went out. It sounded and smelled similar to when I have this happen with older audio gear when a cap or resistor goes bad. I ran it for half an hour with no other issues. I did not hook up a monitor or keyboard/mouse. See photos for further condition details.
