I powered this unit using a current limited power source.  All the digits seem to display clearly. (I noted that the "8" key was not as well defined as the other digits (please see pics).
I have no idea how to test this machine any further (other than putting in some random numbers). I left the power on for about 5 minutes with no issues. Given it's age I'm still selling this as Parts / Repair / Refurbish because I can not guarantee it will work for you.
Some notes I made while testing:
It's missing the screws that secure the lid to the base, no power cord, crack in the back corner (see pic), some discoloration/rust on the unit. The power receiver prong/plug had a bit of "slop" in it. After I firmly, but gently pressed the plug in, it came to life and remained on during the remainder of the "tests". If you'd like me to do any other tests, just let me know ;)
There are scuffs, scratches, and some grime as this has been stored for many years.  Please look closely so you see what the condition is
to you
& what you're receiving.  As with many vintage items, please expect scuffs/scratches, rust, odors, signs of age, dirt, etc.  Please see pics for the visual condition.

Regarding the current buy it now price:
Given that it's near impossible to find "real" comparable units that have sold, (Ebay only lets me search the sales in the past 90 days). I have no comparable sales to base the price off of.  I've searched HP forms and other sales sites. Therefore, the price is set for now. I plan to lower the price every week or so until either: (1) I get an acceptable offer via a polite message from someone who wants to give this iconic piece of history a forever home. (2) Someone opts to use the "buy it now" feature wherever it's currently at. Or (3) I decide to keep it and put it in my front window, on proud display, next to my table lamp that that I won as a major award.  Feel free to check my feedback and buy with confidence.
