Description
This Commodore 64 computer serial number P5313176 was tested for over 24 hours (1454 iterations) with the Diagnostic Rev. 586220 and full diagnostic harness, without any errors. The screen shot shows 12:03 because the clock flips after 12 hours. The computer has been cleaned and tested thoroughly. The case is in great condition, with very minor yellowing. It does however have some kind of marker or something on the bottom that won't clean off. It's fairly minor and not visible from the top or side at all. (see photos). Internally the case in in great shape and does not have any broken case hinges or stand-offs. I took photos before reassembly to demonstrate how good the condition of this case is.
The keyboard was cleaned including removing the back so that all the electrical contacts could be checked and cleaned.
The unit comes with motherboard assembly number 250407 with the higher quality 8-pin NTSC video output. It has all original MOS chips including an original SID sound chip and all the major (large) chips with the exception of one CIA are socketed for easy future modification or repair. All the original shielding is in place, and the VIC II shielding was cleaned and reinstalled with new heat sink compound. I usually recommend removing the cardboard RF shielding to allow for better air flow and cooling, but I've included it for the sake of originality.
I've
included a basic RCA Composite video cable that, should work with most modern TVs. I make the video cables myself and the cable is around 6' long. If you would prefer an S-video cable or original 1702 style monitor cable, message me after the purchase and I can swap the composite cable for the cable of your choice at no additional charge.
The auction is for the Commodore 64 and video cable only, but I’m also including a tested period correct Suntron aftermarket power supply as a courtesy. This is the exact power supply used during testing. I'm not sure if these power supplies have the same issues as the original, but Commodore power supplies have a reputation of failing over the years and causing a higher than rated voltage which can damage the computer. I’ve tested this power supply and it produces 5.185 VDC at the plug and 5.006 VDC under load at the motherboard, which is perfectly within normal range. Being that this power supply is probably over 30 years old I cannot make any guarantees of its continued reliability and you use the power supply at your own risk. If you have any concerns you can find many quality professionally made new power supplies for sale online. If you do not want the power supply, please let me know. My supply of original power bricks is running really low, and It's getting harder and harder to find original power supplies and parts to repair them.
The listing does not include any diagnostics or tools shown in the photos. I only include them to show that I've fully tested the computer.
I will use either UPS or USPS for shipping. Since I'm listing this with free shipping I reserve the right to select whichever carrier is cheaper. I try to be very thorough with my description, but If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Please check my other listings
. I usually list 2 to 3 working and tested Commodores a week, so if you're looking for something specific let me know.
